PRESS RELEASE:

Soaring admissions at innovative, award-winning online school Minerva’s Virtual Academy have led to the appointment of a new headteacher.

The school, which has seen pupil numbers grow from just four to over 600 since 2020, has appointed Suzanne Lindley as Headteacher in anticipation of doubling its size again over the next two years.

Suzanne, who was the school’s Deputy Head (Pastoral)  takes over the role from Lawrence Tubb, who has moved to an advisory role with the school.

Suzanne has extensive experience in schools in the UK and internationally and has played a vital role in shaping the future of MVA’s remote education.

She said: “I am really excited to be taking on the role of Headteacher and building on the great success our community has achieved.

“Online schooling has so much to offer and I am proud to be leading MVA into the next stage of its evolution. We want to continue to grow our school community and, in doing so, ensure that each and every one of our students receives the very best education and pastoral support, upon which our reputation is built.”

Hugh Viney, founder and CEO of MVA, said: “I am delighted that Suzanne has accepted our offer to step into the role of Headteacher. She has been a huge asset since joining us, and her experience both in the UK and internationally will help us with our ambitious plans to grow further still and continue to deliver a truly world-class education for every student.

“I am fully confident that the school is in exceptional hands - both to handle our rapid growth and deliver on our shared vision for the future of MVA. I’m very excited to officially start this new chapter with her as Headteacher.

“I want to thank Lawrence for his support and friendship since I launched the school in 2020. His tireless efforts and outstanding leadership have been pivotal to our success.”

Lawrence said: “It has been a difficult decision to step away from my role as Headteacher; I have been with MVA since the very beginning and have loved every minute of building a successful online school which continues to grow and thrive. It has been a real honour and privilege to meet and work with our many pupils and their parents.

“However, as the school continues to grow, I believe it is the right time for someone new to take the reins and the school could not have a better leader than Suzanne, who has been a tremendous support to me in her time as Deputy Head.”
