No time at school would be complete without them - from debating to art, our After School Clubs offer a chance to have fun, meet like-minded peers, and develop new skills.

There's something for everyone at MVA!

What Extracurricular activities can my child join?

All students at MVA (Years 7 to 11) have access to After School Clubs included in the yearly fees. Students may partake in up to four Clubs, timetable permitting. We also offer Student Voice and Student Interest Groups, which are always included in our yearly fees.

Art

Dive into the world of art and explore your creativity. Try out different techniques and learn from our experienced art teacher.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

There will be opportunities to train AI, giving you hands-on experience of how AI works - you’ll then test what you create to see how well it has learnt.

Chess

Join the MVA Chess Group, sharpen your strategic skills, engage in exciting matches, and explore the depths of this classic game of skill and tactics.

Cooking & Baking

Each week, we will focus on a culture represented by a member of the club, learning new flavours and techniques and putting them into practice. We will share recipes and ideas, cook and bake together, all in a friendly and supportive environment!

Creative Writing

The Creative Writing club will engage you in 45-minute workshops where we have fun with different creative writing exercises.

Debating

Sharpen your critical thinking and public speaking skills. Debate on current issues and learn to express your ideas with confidence.

Film Makers

Are you a budding script-writer, actor, director or scene designer? This club offers you the opportunity to bring your creative visions to life using cutting-edge technology including the Unreal Engine, CGI, animation, and 3D modeling to tell stories that matter to you.

Fitness & Exercise

The key element to fitness club is setting fun, challenging but achievable goals that can work in harmony with your timetable.

High Performance Club

Designed specifically for MVA's elite athletes, the High Performance Club brings our sporting community together, offering advice from regular guest speakers as our athletes prepare for a successful future in their sport.

LGBTQ+

Our mission is to create a safe and welcoming environment where students can express themselves freely, tackle difficult issues and celebrate role models without fear of judgement or discrimination.

Neurodiversity Group

Explore and celebrate diversity of thought in our Neurodiversity Club, embracing the strengths and uniqueness of every mind.

Peter Jones Foundation Home Academy

You’ll have the opportunity to take on the challenge of preparing for and entering the PJF national Tycoon competition in the summer term - preparing a detailed business plan, accessing start-up funds and trading, then evaluating and reflecting on the experience and submitting all the information to the PJF.

Photography

Capture the world through the lens and tell your story. Learn techniques from professionals and showcase your creativity.

World Changers

MVA’s World Changers programme is a unique, co-curricular learning experience that challenges you to come up with innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems. You’ll investigate issues critically, hone your creative problem-solving skills and have the opportunity to work both collaboratively with other students and on your own.

Young Entrepreneurs

Becoming a future business leader starts now. Learn from successful entrepreneurs and turn your big ideas into reality.

For the 2023/4 Academic Year, the YEC was run by MVA Founder Hugh Viney. Students impressed the serial education-entrepreneur by working together to launch MVA's first Merch store! https://store.minervavirtual.com/

Focus on Art Club

Top tip! Follow us on Instagram to see recent student work!

Each week on Monday at 3pm, our community of creative learners come together with their art teacher, Caroline, to explore new techniques, styles, and mediums, and work together to create artwork for MVA's regular end of term show.

Caroline on the benefits of Art Club

"MVA's weekly Art Club explores a variety of themes, genres and styles in Art and Design, alongside advice on materials and techniques. Each programme lasts for one term and the topics are carefully chosen to inspire students to make their own sketches and finished pieces in a relaxed, informal atmosphere, and to encourage their own research.

Class participation through discussion and sharing of work is actively encouraged. Topics covered to date have included: The Portrait, Birds in Art, Science Fiction Art, Surrealism, Manga and Anime and The Circus – with some fantastic results!

Whether a student is a determined enthusiast eager to build a portfolio, or someone who just wants to learn a bit more about Art and Design and have a go at making their own, Art Club provides all who take part with a calm, creative yet stimulating hour each week."
