Keeping Students Safe

Find out how we keep students safe in an online environment, with robust safeguarding processes and dedicated staff support.

Most Asked

What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding means keeping children safe from harm. It includes protecting them from abuse and neglect, making sure their health and development are not at risk, and ensuring they grow up in a safe, supportive environment.

How does MVA approach safeguarding?

We're committed to providing an environment in which students, staff and parents can share any concerns about their own safety or the well-being of others. Our aim is to take action whenever needed so that all children have the best possible chance to thrive.

Who is responsible for safeguarding?

Everyone who comes into contact with students and their families has a role to play in safeguarding young people.

“Every student and family at MVA receives individual support, and we’re here to help you find what works best for you.”

All Questions

Are Mentors involved in safeguarding?

Yes, absolutely. Mentors have a particularly important role as they are in a position to identify concerns early and provide help for students to prevent concerns from escalating.

I'm a student with safeguarding concerns. What should I do?

You can speak to your Mentor, Head of Year, or another trusted adult. If you prefer, you can email safeguarding@minervavirtual.com, or use our Student Worry Button, which allows you to share a concern with us through an online form.

I have safeguarding concerns about a student. What should I do?

Please let us know by emailing our dedicated Safeguarding Team at safeguarding@minervavirtual.com

What does MVA to ensure its safeguarding policies are effective?

We have a dedicated Safeguarding Team, and all staff have regular safeguarding training to ensure they know how to spot the signs of abuse, how to report a concern, and how to support a young person who may have been harmed or is at risk of harm.
