After School Clubs.
What are the After School Clubs?
Each pupil joins one extracurricular club as part of their yearly enrolment at the Academy. Our clubs are designed to broaden your child's interests and encourage them to develop a sense of independent learning.
They do not involve exams or official qualifications.
Pupils can currently choose from Art, Film Production, Debating, Photography and Young Entrepreneurs.
Pupils may sign up for more than one club. These come at an extra cost.
Film Production Club
Film Club is led by Ross, who has extensive experience in the film industry and is highly skilled in story telling through the mediums of Video, Film and Photography. He's passionate about the potential of new technology such as AR and VR. If you join Film Club, you'll be learning about genres of film, coming up with story lines, scripts and character development, thinking about how to create and frame scenes, and experimenting with AR and VR. Classes last for 1 hour each week and will build towards the creation of a short original film.
Art Club
Minerva’s weekly Art Club explores a variety of different themes, genres and styles in art & design, alongside advice on materials and technique. Each programme lasts five weeks and
the topics are carefully chosen to inspire our pupils to make their own sketches and finished pieces
of work in a relaxed and informal atmosphere, as well as encouraging their own research.
Discussion during the sessions is very welcome. So far, we have investigated The Portrait and
Landscape genres - with some fantastic results!
This term the first five-week programme: ‘Art & Fashion’ will look at the influence of artistic styles such as Art Nouveau, Op-Art and Psychedelia on fashion design. In the second five-
week programme: ‘Art & Science Fiction’ we will explore the origins and history of Sci-Fi art. Whether our pupils are determined enthusiasts eager to build a portfolio, or someone who just wants to learn a bit more about art & design and have a go at making their own, Art Club will
provide all who take part with a calm, creative yet stimulating hour every week.
