Speak to our team to start flexible British schooling from September

What does a typical day look like at MVA?

Every student has a personalised timetable that blends group Live Lessons, self-paced learning, one-to-one mentoring, and optional co-curricular and social activities. Lessons are scheduled across the week, but there’s flexibility to work when it suits your child best. Most students log in each morning, attend two to three live sessions across the day, and complete independent work with support from their mentor.

What is the GST timetable?

The GST timetable is a version of the MVA curriculum delivered in alignment with Gulf Standard Time (GMT+4), making it easier for students across the Gulf, Middle East, East Africa, and surrounding regions to follow a school day that fits their local routines and time zones.

What support is available for students who are learning English as an additional language?

We have a dedicated EAL (English as an Additional Language) team that provides tailored support for students who are developing their English skills. Our team delivers a structured curriculum focused on building fluency, confidence, and language development—helping students succeed across all subjects. Support is available through personalised 1:1 sessions and small group lessons.

Is there an assessment process as part of the admissions process to MVA? How does this work?

For entry into Years 7–11:

- Native English speakers: No assessment is required.
- International students (non-native English speakers): A minimum English proficiency level of B2 is required.
If you're unsure of your child's current level, we offer the Password English language test to help determine suitability. This optional assessment is available for a £25 fee.

For entry into MVA6:

In order to manage the demands and challenges of Sixth Form study, you will need to have a minimum of:- Five GCSEs at Grade 5 or above- Passes in English Language and Maths- GCSE Grade 6 or above* in any subject you wish to study at A level

*It is sometimes possible to study a subject at A level having achieved less than a Grade 6 at GCSE - individual circumstances are always considered and taken into account.

Will students be able to join Year 11 if they have completed Year 10 elsewhere?

Yes, it is possible - provided the exam boards and curriculum align closely. Each case is reviewed individually to ensure there is sufficient overlap between the student’s prior studies and our Year 10 curriculum. This helps us ensure that students are set up for success in Year 11 and not placed at a disadvantage.

For students currently seeking places in Years 7, 8, and 12, can they undertake the UK timetable from the Middle East?

Yes, they can. Our flexible learning model is designed to support students worldwide. All live lessons are recorded upon delivery and accessible on-demand, allowing students to watch them at a time that suits their local schedule. Self-study components can also be completed at any time - morning, evening, or even on weekends, giving families full flexibility.

Can students take UK timetable GCSEs if they're not available on the GST timetable?

Possibly. These requests are considered on a case-by-case basis, as availability depends on the specific subjects chosen and whether there are any timetable clashes. We recommend discussing your preferences with the admissions team to explore what’s feasible.

Does MVA offer support for students with English as an Additional Language?

Yes, we do. MVA now offers a dedicated English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programme for students who speak English as an Additional Language. This includes bespoke 1:1 and small group lessons delivered by our specialist EAL teacher, tailored to each student’s language level and academic needs. Referrals into the programme can be made by staff or parents, and we’re developing a full VLP course to provide structured support, along with resources for subject teachers to help embed language support in everyday lessons. We’re also reviewing our admissions process to better identify EAL needs early on, and exploring the use of a new formal assessment tool to ensure clarity from the outset.

What level of SEND and neurodiversity support does MVA offer? Is there an assessment process for students with SEND?

Absolutely. We work with a wide range of learners and have a strong track record in supporting students with neurodiverse profiles, including ADHD, dyslexia, ASD, and processing differences. Our online model allows for a personalised pace and approach. Support is led by our SENDCo and wider team, with input from subject teachers and, where appropriate, 1:1 mentors or tutors. We’re happy to review existing reports, and if further information is needed we can arrange a conversation and guidance prior to enrolment.

How often are community events held, and where do they take place? Who organises them, and is there a cost to attend?

Our community events are a much-loved part of MVA life. We typically hold several in-person meetups termly in different regions across the UK including some subject specific and special interest events. There are also more localised events arranged by our incredible MVA families who act as ambassadors for their local areas and arrange small, more low-key events. We also host weekly virtual socials, clubs, and workshops so students can build friendships wherever they are!

What optional co-curricular and social activities are available for students?

There’s a rich mix on offer. Students can join everything from debating club and creative writing workshops to gaming and sports clubs. Most activities are free and run outside of lesson time - we’re always open to student suggestions!  These co-curriculars are key to helping students feel connected and inspired.

“Having enrolled our daughter into MVA recently we are immensely impressed with the content, communication and general ethos across the board from teachers and mentors.”
