It was an extremely exciting week last week for tennis fans at Minerva, as three MVA athletes took to the court to show off their incredible skills.
Emily Eigelsbach has put on a truly incredible performance in Wimbledon Juniors, making it all the way to the Quarter Finals culminating in a nail biting match against the USA's Janae Preston.
Emily has long been one of MVA's top tennis players, and this week she has absolutely shown why she deserved her spot at the quintessential tennis event.
Fabian Spiess - BA (Hons), M.Sc., Elite Athlete Education Officer at MVA said:
Over the past week one of our MVA pupils, Emily, has been competing at Wimbledon. We're incredibly proud of Emily and all her achievements, not just this last week at Wimbledon of course, but her constant sacrifice and dedication to improve is admirable. She has reaped the rewards for that hard work with an incredible week and run into the Quarter finals at Wimbledon. I would like to sincerely congratulate Emily on behalf of everyone at MVA. We're incredibly proud to be able to say she's an MVA student athlete and have no doubt, that she has an incredible career ahead of her.
Emily is not alone, however, with MVA Athletes Anastasis Mosaikos and Sophie Bekker both putting in phenomenal efforts in the Boys U14s and the Juniors Women's Doubles and Girls' Singles respectively.
For three MVA students to appear among the top young talent in the world speaks volumes about their ability to unleash their talent despite also being in full time education, and we expect this number to only grow as the Minerva model becomes more and more widespread throughout the elite young sporting community.
We are all deeply proud of our young tennis champions, already reaching these kinds of heights in their sport - they are definitely names to watch out for in years to come.
Well done, all.
