Challenging Perceptions: The DfE Visits MVA HQ

Last week, MVA hosted 7 representatives of the Department for Education, both virtually and in person at MVA HQ in Brixton, to give them a taste of how our award-winning approach to schooling works in such transformational ways for students.

Our guests experienced a full day in the life at MVA, joining Assembly, Live Lessons, and dropping in on social activities, to truly see what it's like to go to a school with no physical classroom.

The guests also met with members from all parts of the Minerva family, from school leaders and teams from across the company, to student ambassadors and parent groups, seeing and hearing first hand our commitment to student happiness and supportive learning.

Feedback from all parties was overwhelmingly positive, and the DfE's open-mindedness and eagerness to understand was a hugely encouraging step towards the future we've long envisaged - where families are presented with a range of options for their child's schooling, and can choose the path that suits their needs.

In particular, the DfE were impressed with MVA's happy students, saying:

Thank you so much for the time you gave us on Wednesday to see MVA close up. The agenda gave us a really valuable insight into the provision. The session with your students was the highlight, you must be so proud of them and of the way MVA is helping them thrive. I know others enjoyed the visit and that it challenged their perception of how to deliver education.

We hope this marks the beginning of continued positive engagement with the DfE, and a new era for schooling that holds wellbeing and happiness as a priority on par with academic achievement.

School as we know it does not need to be replaced. But it can be better.
