MVA Partners with Janet Lomas School of Dancing to Support Athletes of All Stripes

MVA is proud to announce today a new partnership with the Janet Lomas School of Dance, the prestigious ballet school which, like many educational institutions, began providing online lessons during the pandemic, which proved to be a roaring success - and not just for ballet dancers.

The school also runs a Ballet for Sport program, which helps elite athletes of all kinds hone their skills, from swimmers to skaters to baseball players, building their strength, flexibility and overall fitness through dance from anywhere in the world.

This is not without precedent, either.

Sportspeople of all kinds have long cited ballet training as being an important part of being at the top of their respective games, including the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rio Ferdinand and Michael Jordan.

With MVA's diverse student population of elite young athletes, we're confident that this partnership can prove valuable to every one of them, dancers or not.

As a virtual ballet school, we understand the need for flexibility of learning. In our own school, we see that there are many reasons for a child to learn online – we train aspiring dancers across the world, athletes in our Ballet for Sports program and those who simply wish to learn ballet online (such as through geographical restriction or they require a higher level of training than accessible in their local area).
For elite athletes on our Ballet for Sports program, often school work can be difficult to juggle alongside training – especially for those who train internationally and compete at national and world levels. Our partnership means that students can excel both academically and in their specialist field of study. Our ballet teachers are fully qualified and recognised by international dance associations, and as such, we recognise MVA’s commitment to excellence with their accredited, recognised qualifications and Department for Education accreditation.

Johanna Hadley, Principal Teacher at Janet Lomas

But MVA isn't just proud of this partnership for Janet Lomas School of Dancing's world-class teaching and achievements, with many students going on to full-time careers in dance across the globe - the school is also a perfect fit with our values of accessibility and flexibility enabling success for all.

We are delighted to be partnering with Janet Lomas School of Dancing to support dancers in balancing their academic studies alongside high-level training. What makes this partnership particularly strong is that both MVA and Janet Lomas School of Dancing operate fully online, delivering live, high-quality teaching that allows students to train and study from anywhere in the world.
Janet Lomas School of Dancing has trained dancers from over 34 countries and offers live classes across multiple time zones, which aligns closely with MVA’s global student community. Together, we provide a flexible, high-quality pathway that enables students to pursue both academic success and excellence in ballet without compromise.

Sol Rolls-Tyson, Business Development Manager - Athletes and Performers at MVA

No child should be unable to pursue their passions and talents because of a lack of facilities or resources. With Janet Lomas School of Dancing, MVA is proud to be bringing down yet another barrier for our students and opening up the world of dance to them wherever they may be.
