Biology introduces students to the living world, from cells and body systems to ecosystems and genetics. Students learn how life functions, how organisms interact, and how humans impact the natural world. The course encourages curiosity and develops practical investigation skills through hands-on experiments.

Chemistry helps students understand the substances that make up our world and how they change. They explore atoms, reactions, the periodic table, and everyday applications of chemical principles. Practical work and scientific thinking are at the heart of this subject, preparing students for more advanced study.

English in Year 9 helps students become confident communicators, critical thinkers, and creative writers. They explore a wide range of texts, from modern fiction to classic literature and media, learning how language works and how to express ideas clearly. Students develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills that prepare them for IGCSE and beyond.

Students in Y9 are placed in one of two pathways – Core and Extension Maths. Both will cover the same topics but the extension will move at a faster pace and will link to the more advanced mathematical concepts. Students will be placed into these tiers depending on their progress and outcomes.

Mathematics builds problem-solving and logical thinking skills. Students deepen their understanding of number, algebra, geometry, and statistics while applying mathematical reasoning to real-life situations. Whether following the Core or Extension pathway, all students are supported and challenged as they prepare for GCSE-level study.

Physics explores how and why things move, the nature of energy, and the laws that govern the universe. Students investigate forces, motion, electricity, waves and space, using experiments and real-world examples to bring the subject to life. They develop skills in analysis, prediction and problem-solving.

Wellbeing supports students through a key stage of emotional and social development. They learn about mental and physical health, personal identity, relationships, safety and decision-making. The course encourages reflection, resilience and empathy, helping students navigate change and become confident, informed individuals.
