Winners just announced!

We are thrilled to announce that Minerva's Virtual Academy has won the 'Most Innovative Technology-Led Teaching' award at this year's Muddy Stiletto's Best Schools Awards, sponsored by Healthily.

We're really proud to win this one - it was judged by a highly experienced panel of headteachers, including Patrick Derham OBE (ex-headmaster, Westminster School), Lucy Elphinstone (Headmistress, ), Emma Goldsmith (Head of Dragon School), and Mark Semmence (Headmaster, Repton School).

In our application, we talked about the importance of keeping learning real - mixing smart Virtual Learning on our VLP with Live Lessons held by our amazing teachers and providing our pupils with a weekly timetable full of opportunities to work collaboratively and socialise. Yes, we're led by technology. Yes, our pupils study from 20+ countries around the world. But it's our human connection that makes us stronger and keep us together.

The other finalists were:

  • Harrow School Online
  • Bedford Girls’ School, Bedford
  • Brockhurst and Marlston House Schools, Newbury
  • Reed’s School, Cobham

Lawrence Tubb, Headmaster at Minerva's Virtual Academy, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have had the quality of our teaching called out and as a result, win a Muddy Stilettos’ Best Schools Award. This is tremendous recognition and testament to the hard work of our skilled and dedicated teachers and mentors.

“Our overarching aim is to provide innovative, technology-led teaching, so it’s wonderful to
be recognised for this so soon after we launched. We believe our approach - of combining
smart technology and engaging online resources with one-to-one support and group learning is perfect for modern times.

“We allow our pupils the flexibility to learn from the comfort of their home, anywhere in the
world, while ensuring they develop the social skills required to live rich and fulfilling lives and
succeed in the future.”

Hero Brown, Muddy Stilettos Editor-in-Chief, said: “A big congratulations to Minerva’s Virtual
Academy for winning the most innovative technology-led teaching category in our Best
Schools Awards 2022.
